After Hockenheim, the Boss GP competitors had traveled to the Red Bull Ring, the Austrian track which will host the F1 Grand Prix in few weeks, for the second meeting of the 2016 season.
As in Germany a month earlier, the weather was very unstable, with cold and rainy conditions during the practice sessions and qualifying, before the sun sets in for the races. On Friday, the Easy Formula team demonstrated high performance, as Christopher and Gilles clinching the two best times of the Formula category during the practice session, and respectively the first and the third position in qualifying.
If Gilles saw his chances of results wiped out by a competitor who crashed into him at the first race, Christopher would dominate the meeting by winning both races on the program and realizing each time the fastest lap. A result that rewards the work of the team, explains Sebastien, chief engineer on the car 117: “It may look easy from the outside, but we had to work hard all weekend to adjust the settings of the car to different weather conditions. In the end, we come back home with an armful of trophies and that’s great. Pity that Gilles was involved in an accident because he deserved to be on the podium. “
He consoled himself by making a very good recovery in the second race. Starting from the down of the grid, he crossed the finishing line in fifth position.
Next meeting in Monza on July 2nd and 3rd .
